Make a change order

Start one

Open the job from Jobs and tap New change order. No job yet? Tap New job on the jobs list, or connect Jobber.

Film it or take photos first

At the top are two big buttons, Video and Add photo. Start there: film the extra work and talk, or take a few photos. Changed writes it up from what you show and say, so you do not have to type first.

Film it with Video

Tap Video to film the problem and talk while you film, up to two minutes. Tap Record, show and say what the extra work is, then tap Stop. Your phone asks once to use the camera and microphone.

• Up to three stills from the video are added to your photos, marked still, with a line under them like "3 stills from your video".
• The video itself is kept. It shows under the stills with a player, and starts uploading as soon as you tap Stop. The line next to it says how far along it is.
• Nothing goes into your camera roll, unless you turn on saving to your device.
• Autofill runs by itself when you tap Stop. See Autofill below.

When you tap Save draft, the video goes on the change order. If it is still uploading, the draft saves as soon as it is up. Tap Remove video to leave it off; the stills stay as photos. Filming again puts the new video in place of the last one.

Your office sees the video on the change order, and the customer sees it on their page next to the photos. The signed PDF has a link to it, and so does the note in Jobber.

A video can be up to two minutes. If it comes out too big to keep, the stills and your words are still kept. Until storage is set up for your company, the line says "Videos are kept once storage is set up" and only the stills and your words are kept.

Tap Cancel at any time to throw it away. If the sound cannot be read, the stills are still added and you can type the rest.

Add photos

Tap Add photo. Your phone offers to take a photo or pick one from your library. A photo taken here goes onto the change order, not into your camera roll. The customer sees the photos on their page.

Tap a photo to see it big. Tap Close at the top, or swipe back, to return to the change order.

With photos only, nothing runs by itself: tap Autofill when you are ready.

Say what the extra work is

The box under the photos, What's the extra work, and why?, is what the customer reads, and what Autofill works from. After a video you do not need to type in it: what you said goes in for you. You can always write it yourself, the way you would say it on site, for example "Behind the old tile the drywall was soft. It needs replacing before the new tile goes on."

Talk instead of typing

Tap the box, tap the microphone on your keyboard, and say what the extra work is. Your phone turns it into words. Then tap Autofill.

Autofill

Tap Autofill, under the box, and Changed fills in the lines. After a video it runs by itself.

While it works, the lines area shows what it is doing, one step at a time: Writing down what you said (after a video), then Looking at your photos and Filling in the lines. The button reads Autofilling… until it is done. Then:

• After a video, what you said goes on the end of the box, never over what you typed. If the box was empty and there was no video, Changed writes the wording for the customer there.
• Lines that match your products and services come in at your price, tagged from your list. Change the price and the tag says price edited.
• Anything else comes in as an estimate, tagged low confidence, with a short note. Check those prices.
• It may offer Suggested wording for the customer under the box. Tap Use this or Keep mine.

Fix anything it got wrong. It never sends anything. It is not Save draft: nothing is saved until you tap Save draft at the bottom. If it says drafts are off, write the lines by hand.

Lines by hand

Tap Write a line, or pick an item from From your products & services and it goes on as a line. With a long list, type in Find an item first. Each line has a name, a quantity, a unit price, and Add or Credit. Use Credit for work you are taking out, which comes off the total. The totals at the bottom show Before this change, This change and New job total.

Signature and deposit

• Ask for a signature: the customer draws their signature before they sign off.
• Ask for a deposit: set the Deposit amount. It has to be more than zero and no more than the change. See Deposits and the Pay button.

Tap Save draft. Nothing goes to the customer until you send it for sign-off.
