Text the link from Quo or your own phone
Tap Text to send the sign-off text from your own phone, or connect your company's Quo number and Changed sends it from there.
The customer should know who is texting them, so the sign-off text comes from a number they already know: your own phone, or your company's Quo number. Changed does not text from a number of its own.
From your own phone
With Quo not connected, Text opens Messages on your phone with the customer's number and the text filled in: your company name, the address and the link. You check it and press send.
- On the Send for sign-off card, tap Text. The change order goes out for sign-off and the link is made. Nothing is sent yet.
- The page shows a big Open Messages button. Tap it. Messages opens with the text ready. Press send.
Once the change order is out, Text is next to the customer's name, so you can text the link again any time before they sign off. That one opens Messages straight away.
- It works on an iPhone and on Android, with nothing to set up.
- The change order says Messages opened on your phone, and the timeline says who opened it. It never says sent: the text goes from your phone, so Changed can not see whether you pressed send, and there is no delivery receipt.
- Did not send it after all? Tap Open Messages or Text again, or Email to send the link by email.
- Their reply comes to your phone, like any text.
On a computer
On a Mac with Messages, Open Messages opens Messages there. Windows has no Messages: tap Copy link under the customer's name and send the link from your phone, or tap Email.
From your Quo number
Quo is optional. If your company already texts customers from Quo (it used to be called OpenPhone), connect it once and every sign-off text goes from your Quo number, sent by Changed. Texts then go from your Quo number, and replies land in your Quo inbox.
Quo connects with an API key, a long code you make in Quo and paste into Changed. Open Settings, Connections; the Texting card has the same three steps. Only an owner or the office can connect Quo.
- Go to Quo's API settings. Only a Quo owner or admin sees that page.
- Click Generate API key. Name it Changed; any name works.
- Copy the key, paste it in the Quo API key box in Changed and tap Connect Quo.
If your company has more than one Quo number, pick the one the texts come from.
Changed checks the key with Quo, keeps it locked away and never shows it again. If what you pasted is plainly not a key (a web address, an email address, words with spaces, or only part of the key), Changed says so before it asks Quo.
Not the Quo admin? Under the steps, tap Copy the steps (or Share the steps on a phone) and send them to whoever runs Quo. The message has the three steps and a link back to the Texting card. Changed does not send it; you do.
Once Quo is connected, Text sends the text right away from that number, on the Send for sign-off card and next to the customer's name, and says Sent from the number. Delivered shows under the customer's name, and when they reply, the reply shows on the change order's timeline and lands in your Quo inbox, where you answer it.
Change number picks another Quo number. Disconnect forgets the key, and texts go from your own phone again.
If Quo says no
Changed shows what Quo said and does not mark the text as sent, so you never think a customer has a link they do not. Common ones:
- The API key was refused. The key was deleted in Quo. Disconnect, make a new key and connect again.
- US carrier registration. Texts from a Quo number to US numbers need US carrier registration, which you do in the Quo app.
- Too many requests. Wait a minute and tap Text again.
You can always tap Email or Copy link instead. See Send a change order for sign-off.
