What the customer sees and how they sign off

The customer opens a link on their phone, sees the change and the new total, and signs off with a signature, with no account or app.

The customer does not need an account, an app or a password. They tap the link in the text or email.

What is on their page

  • Your company name and the job address.
  • Already agreed: the work they agreed to before, change orders they already signed off, and the total Before this change.
  • This change: the reason in your words, the photos, the video when your tech filmed one, and each line. Lines you are taking out show as Credit and come off the total.
  • This change and the New job total. A change that does not move the price says "No change to the price."
  • The deposit, when the change order asks for one: "A deposit of $X is due on sign-off."
  • The schedule, when you stated one: "Adds 3 days to the schedule." See Terms and schedule.
  • A line that ties it to the job: "This change order amends the agreement for Bathroom reno at 12 Elm St. All other terms of that agreement stay the same."
  • Terms from your company, when you have set them in Settings.

Photos and the video

A tap on a photo opens it big on the same page, with a Close button at the top. The video plays right on the page, starting from its first still. Neither one takes them off the page, so they never lose their way back to Sign off on this change.

How they sign off

  1. If you asked for a signature, they draw it with a finger or type their name.
  2. They check their name.
  3. They check the box: "I agree to use electronic records and signatures, and that my electronic signature has the same effect as signing on paper."
  4. They tap Sign off on this change with the amount on the button. Right above it the page says "By tapping Sign off, you are signing this change order." When they have an email, under it: "You'll get the signed PDF by email."

Under the box, About signing electronically opens a few plain lines: they can ask you for a paper copy; they can withdraw their consent by contacting you before they sign off; they need a phone or computer that can open the page and a PDF; a copy is emailed to them and they can download it from the page. The box is required. Changed records when they checked it and which version of these words they saw, and prints both on the signed PDF.

The page then says You've signed off. and "Your company can go ahead with the work.", with their name and the time, "A copy is on its way by email." when they have an email, and Download the signed PDF. Anyone else who opens the same link later, or the customer coming back another day, sees Signed off by and the name, with the same download.

Changed checks that what they signed off on is exactly what their page showed, the terms and schedule included. If the change order was edited in between, the sign-off is refused and nothing is recorded.

If another change order on the same job is signed off or voided while their page is open, the totals on it move. The page notices within about 20 seconds, or as soon as they come back to it, and shows the new totals with "The totals were updated because another change on this job was signed off. Look it over, then sign off." Their signature and name stay; the box is unchecked so they agree to the new numbers.

Every time on their page, the PDF and the emails is in the job's time zone, taken from the state or province in the job's address, and says which: "9:12 a.m. Eastern time". With no state, province or postal code in the address, times are Mountain time.

Questions and asking for changes

  • At the bottom of the page: "Questions? Contact your company", with Call, Text and Email buttons that open their phone or email app. They reach you directly; nothing goes through Changed.
  • The phone and email come from How customers reach you in Settings, Company. Until you fill them in, Changed uses the phone and email on your Jobber account, and otherwise the owner's email. With no phone they see only Email.
  • Ask for changes, under the sign-off button, opens a box: "What would you change?" They can write a short note, up to 500 characters, or leave it empty, then tap Send to your company, or Go back. Their page then says "Sent." and that you will be in touch with an updated change order, then "Changed your mind? Contact your company and they can send it again." and "You haven't agreed to anything yet." You see it on the change order, with their note, and under Needs you. Asking for changes needs no box checked.
  • When you edit a change order you already sent, their old link says "This change order was updated" with your Call, Text and Email buttons, and you send them the new one.

Only the customer can sign off or ask for changes on their change order. Nobody at your company, and nothing in Changed, can do it for them.

After they sign off

If there is a deposit and somewhere to pay it, a Pay button shows. See Deposits and the Pay button.
