Edit a change order
Tap Edit to change a price or a line until someone signs off; a draft saves in place, and one you already sent goes out again as its next version.
When you can edit
Open the change order and tap Edit near the top. It is there until someone signs off:
- a draft you have not sent yet;
- one that is sent, out for sign-off, whether they asked for changes or not.
Once a change order is signed off, or voided, there is no Edit. Make a new change order for anything more.
What you can change
Edit opens the same page you made it on, filled in: the reason, the lines (lines from your products and services stay linked to them), the photos, the video, the deposit, the signature setting and the schedule. Take a line out, change a price, add a photo, then save.
A draft
Save changes saves it in place. Nothing goes to the customer.
One you already sent
Saving makes the next version, under the same number: CO-02 stays CO-02 and becomes Version 2.
- The link the customer has stops working. If they open it, it says "This change order was updated" and that you will send the new one. A sign-off on the old link is refused, even if their page was already open.
- You land on Send for sign-off with the same person picked. Send the new link by email or text.
- The change order page keeps what each earlier version said, under Earlier versions, and the timeline says what was edited, for example "CO-02 edited after it was sent (version 2): removed Pot light, LED; total now +$255.00".
- Sending a new version does not count again against your plan. A change order counts once, when it was first sent.
- Nothing went to Jobber yet, so there is nothing to undo there. Once the customer signs off on the new version, its lines go to Jobber.
Until you send the new version, the change order is under Needs you on the Change orders page: "Version 2 not sent yet. Send it".
The signed PDF shows the version they signed, and its certificate says that earlier versions were sent and when.
Sent to the wrong person
Void it, so their link stops working, then make the change order again and send it to the right person.
When the customer asks for changes
The customer's page has Ask for changes under the sign-off button, with a box for what they would change. You see it under Needs you on the Change orders page, for example: Pat Customer asked for changes 2 h ago: "Skip the pot lights, the rest is fine". Tap Edit, fix it, save and send. If it should not go ahead at all, open it and tap Void this change order instead. See Status words and voiding.
