Comparison
Best change order apps for contractors (2026)
The best change order app depends on what you already run your business on. On Jobber, a change order add-on such as Changed (ours) gets the customer's signature and puts the change on the Jobber job, and JobAmend is a similar add-on in development; Knowify suits trade contractors who want job costing with QuickBooks Online; Buildertrend and Houzz Pro suit builders and remodelers who want a whole project management suite; and DocuSign suits signing any kind of document.

1. Changed (ours)
Change orders for contractors who run on Jobber. Your tech films the extra work or takes photos and says what changed, and Autofill writes the reason and picks the lines from your own products and services. The customer gets a link by text or email and signs off on their phone with a finger or a typed name, with no app and no account, or asks for changes. They get a signed PDF with a sign-off certificate, and Changed writes the lines, a pinned note with the signed PDF and photos, the Change orders field and any deposit invoice back to the same Jobber job. The original quote is never touched. Claude, ChatGPT and Muse can draft and send change orders through its connector. It works without Jobber too, with jobs added by hand.
- Fits: home service and remodeling contractors on Jobber, in the US and Canada, who want each change signed before the work.
- Not for: several signers on one change order, budgets and job costing, a QuickBooks sync, a full project management suite, or an ID check on the signer.
- Price: the first 10 change orders are free, then Pro is $29 a month for 20 change orders a month and Crew is $99 a month for 100, for the whole company. See Change orders for Jobber and Plans and pricing.
2. JobAmend
An add-on for Jobber that is in development: its website calls it a founding beta and takes sign-ups by email. From its website: the crew opens a secure link from the Jobber job, adds only the changed items, and the client signs on screen or from a text link; the approved amount carries into billing and the original quote stays untouched. It is made for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, remodel and general contractors, and it needs Jobber.
- Fits: Jobber shops that want a change order step and one flat price.
- Price: $29 a month flat for the company, free until the first approved change order.
- Next to Changed: both add change orders to Jobber and keep the quote untouched. Changed is live today; JobAmend is taking beta sign-ups.
3. Knowify
Job management for trade contractors such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting and concrete. From its website: you create change orders, send them for electronic approval and see when they are viewed or signed; approved changes update the budget and flow into billing, and it syncs with QuickBooks Online.
- Fits: subcontractors and trade contractors who want job costing, budgets and QuickBooks Online in one system.
- Price: from $99 a month, from its website.
- Keep in mind: it is a system to run your jobs in. If you already run them in Jobber, it is a second one.
4. Buildertrend
Project management for home builders and remodelers. From its help center: change orders carry supporting files and go out for digital approval; the client approves from the email or the client portal, and budgets and job costs update when they do.
- Fits: builders and remodelers running long projects with schedules, selections, budgets and a client portal.
- Price: sold as a full suite; see its pricing page.
- Keep in mind: it replaces how you run jobs, not only how you get changes signed.
5. Houzz Pro
Software for remodelers, contractors and designers. From its website: change orders go to the client for e-signature approval in the client portal, an approved change order becomes an invoice with one click, clients pay online, and it connects to QuickBooks.
- Fits: remodelers and designers who also want proposals, invoices, payments and a Houzz profile in one place.
- Price: see its pricing page, and check which plan includes change orders.
6. DocuSign
General e-signature software. It signs any PDF or Word file, with templates, several signers in order and ID checks as an add-on. Jobber's DocuSign integration, on Jobber's Connect and Grow plans, fills in the client and job details, but the signed document stays in DocuSign and no line items come back to the Jobber job.
- Fits: businesses that sign many kinds of documents, or need several signers or an ID check.
- Price: Personal is CA$13 a month for 5 envelopes, billed annually, on DocuSign's plans page as served in Canada; Standard and Business Pro are priced per user.
- More: Changed vs DocuSign for change orders.
Also free: Jobber on its own, or a template
- Jobber on its own. Edit the job, or create a similar quote for the customer to approve. Free with Jobber; neither puts a signature on the change itself on the same job. See How to do a change order in Jobber.
- A template. Our free change order template is a fillable PDF and a Word file, for the customer to sign on paper.

Questions
What is the best change order app for Jobber?
Jobber has no change order document of its own. Changed (ours) adds one today, and JobAmend, another Jobber add-on, is in development with a beta sign-up. Both get the customer's signature and keep the original quote untouched. Changed also writes the signed lines, a pinned note with the signed PDF and photos, and any deposit invoice to the same Jobber job, and works with Claude, ChatGPT and Muse. See Change orders for Jobber.
Which change order apps have e-signatures?
All six on this list let the customer sign electronically. What differs is where the signed change goes: back to your Jobber job, into a project budget, or into a document store.
Is there a free change order app?
Changed is free for the first 10 change orders, and JobAmend says it will be free until the first approved change order. Our change order template is free for good.
Why list other apps on your own site?
Because the right one depends on how you run your business, and a contractor on the wrong app wastes a season. If Changed fits, we would like you to pick it for the right reasons.
