Comparison
Changed vs editing the job in Jobber
Editing the job in Jobber puts extra work on the invoice in about a minute, but nothing records that the customer agreed to it. Changed takes a few minutes more: the customer signs off on the change from their phone before the work, and then Changed writes the same lines to the same Jobber job for you.

What editing the job does
You open the job in Jobber, add a line for the extra work, and save. The job total goes up and the invoice picks up the line. It is quick, it is free with Jobber, and your office already knows how.
What it leaves out: the customer never sees the change before the bill. If they question it later, you have the line, maybe a note, and your word.
What Changed does
Your tech opens the job in Changed on their phone, films a short video or takes photos, and the change order is written from your own products and services. The customer gets a link by text or email, sees the change and the new total, and signs off. Then Changed writes to the Jobber job: the lines, a pinned note with the signed PDF and photos, the Change orders field, and a deposit invoice when you asked for one. See What goes back to Jobber.

When editing the job is enough
- The change is small, the customer said yes in front of you, and you trust the relationship.
- You are fixing your own mistake on the job, not adding work.
- It is a commercial customer whose purchase order already covers the change.
When to send a change order instead
- The extra work changes the price by more than you would want to argue about later.
- The customer isn't on site, or someone else pays the bill.
- You want a deposit before you buy materials.
- You want proof of what the tech saw, in photos or video, in front of the customer when they agree.
You can mix both: edit the job for small fixes, and send a change order for anything you'd want signed. Our guide How to do a change order in Jobber has the steps for each way, including a similar quote.
Questions
Does Changed replace editing the job?
For extra work the customer pays for, yes: Changed writes the signed-off lines to the job, so you don't type them twice. You can still edit the job by hand for anything else.
Will the extra work be on the Jobber invoice?
Yes. The lines Changed writes to the job are ordinary job lines, so they reach the invoice like any other.
Does my tech need a Jobber seat?
No. A tech can use Changed without a Jobber seat. See Invite your team.
